What to Wear – Wedding Guest Jumpsuits

A friend of mine recently asked me to shoot her upcoming wedding. Normally I don’t do weddings (I’m a portrait photographer), but for my oldest friend, of course I made an exception!

This presents a unique challenge- what to wear?! I need to be able to move around, squat (how lovely) and generally contort my body in various, unattractive positions to capture all of the shots. When I shoot, it’s not unusual for me to lay on the ground or balance on whatever is available (rocks, trees, you name it). So, obviously my usual go-to wedding guest cocktail attire wouldn’t work.

So, how can I look wedding-appropriate but comfortable and able to run around all at the same time? A dressy jumpsuit! I started digging around the internet to see what I could come up with. I’ve always loved the jumpsuit trend, but rarely purchase them. I have a long torso and I’m short, so I always found them a little tricky to pull off. Plus, many jumpsuits are too baggy or casual to wear to an evening wedding. Nevertheless, I was determined to find something. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are many fantastic options out there (most black, which is OK by me!) Here is a roundup of my favorite wedding-appropriate jumpsuits.
